Heavy rain and severe thunderstorm activity moved through North Myrtle Beach in the late afternoon on Thursday. Several inches of rain fell within an hour and a half resulting in flooding. North Myrtle Beach Police, for a time, closed a portion of Main Street and Ocean Boulevard between Ocean Boulevard and Hillside Drive. Water levels made the streets impassable. Other area streets also had flooding. Some minor damage was reported, but there was no major damage or injuries.

Two well know figures from the Town of Atlantic Beach have been arrested. Police Chief Eric Lewis arrested 39 year old Wendy Price and her husband, 46 year old Darnell Price, late Wednesday. Chief Lewis and Town Manager William Booker tell what happened.

(Chief Lewis) “They were in a restaurant that has actually been condemned by our building officials. The building had a lot of electrical problems and other problems. With the building having been condemned, they were actually served with papers.  However, they were using the location anyway and what we ended up having to do was to take both of them into custody.”

(Mr. Booker) “We knew there were issues with the building and officials had pointed out those issues to me. I knew that having services was important to Rev. Price and Mr. Price so the town had offered them use of the Town community center while they took the necessary actions to make their building safe, but they chose not to do that, at least at the present time.”

Wendy Price is a former Town Council candidate in Atlantic Beach, but she was declared ineligible because she did not actually reside within the Town City Limits.
